F-V needs to get with it, many towns that are way more restrictive are still allowing backyard chickens with reasonable limits (5 hens and no roosters) and a permit.
This increases the value of our properties as more will be willing to move here.

Bring on the chickens, hope you Remember Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s famous quote "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you Ain't Black," translation, If You Don’t Vote for Me, ‘You Ain’t Black’, So you “Ain’t” Black if you Vote for Trump? That’s embarrassing and a slap in the face to all Black voters. Think about that Before You Vote, and again Joe continues with another racist quote, “The reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home was because some Black woman was able to stock the grocery shelf.” What a shame. Then he also said, in 1977, that non-"orderly" racial integration policies would cause his children to "grow up in a Racial Jungle." Question: Why are Black Americans giving the Bigoted, Racist Joe Biden a pass, and accepting his racist comments? Why?

My family and I are rethinking our home purchase in F-V, because of the no chicken law also. It is said that F-V is the only town in Wake County that does not allow chickens.

We are relocating from California, to North Carolina. We have found a beautiful home in Fuquay-Varina and love everything about the town. BUT, not being able to have chickens is a deal breaker. Here in my Southern CA neighborhood we are able to have up to 25 chickens, no roosters, as long as the coop is 35 feet from the house and the lot size is 10,000 sqft. My family and I love being able to have chickens, because we know exactly what the chickens eat and it is such a rewarding feeling knowing where the eggs come from.
F-V council is doing the town a disservice, by not allowing chickens, and has possibly lost revenue by my family and I choosing a different town in Wake County to reside.

I am in the process of finding new homes for my flock. I live in Fuquay Varina zone R-20 and did not know the city limits rules applied to us. Being outside city limits and living in the agriculture zone and all. I think if there is an open dialog with your neighbors. Chickens should be allowed.

I absolutely agree with you in regards to strict limitations. It's silly that hens aren't allowed, but it should be 6 hens max and definitely NO roosters.

If you lived next to my neighbor you'd see first hand why these ordinances and codes are GOOD! It's gotten way out of hand and they hoped no one would check codes. 50+ hens, 3+ roosters. 1/2 acre, 6. INSANITY!!! I'd rather have the restrictions than not at this point. Or only allow 6 birds max and ban roosters!

FV resident. Previously lived outside town limits and and a flock of 20-30 hens at any given time. Now living in town limits, and I miss my girls terribly. They are less noisy than the traffic on main st., provide amazing fertilizer for my garden, a fresh wholesome source of protein, natural pest control, and endless hours of entertainment and happiness. Please let this crazy chicken lady have her girls back. I feel lost without them.
