This petition has been created to help get funding for what are potentially two of the most valuable classes at UVA. Every year there has been a struggle to receive funding from the administration for EDLF 101-LINC: Dialogues on Diversity. For the past few years this class has been in danger of not receiving funding. Each year that this happens is another year or semester that a group of students are almost missing out on an amazing experience. It is difficult to understand how a class that is in such high demand among students is unable to receive funding and is constantly being overlooked by the administration.
Part of the value of this class is that, with the exception of facilitators, it is closed to first years so they have the remaining three years to apply what they have learned to this class to both the UVA community, and anyone they encounter during their college career and even after. The class explores a large array of issues from racism to classism to heterosexism among other things. Please take into consideration the continuation of this class.
Thank you,
The Undersigned
The administration is still silent on the future of this program despite the clear demand from students. I am currently reaching out to faculty members to build more pressure on the department. Please email your representatives on the student council to demand that they put this issue on the agenda now.

The momentum behind this petition proves that the administration cannot ignore the value of these dialogues any longer. Post this link on Facebook and email your representative to ensure they see how many of us demand permanent funding.

FUND IT. These conversations are way more useful than anything I learned in my actual major requirements.

Keep LINC around. UVA needs this class to keep talking about the real stuff.

This class changed my whole perspective on things my first year. It is honestly absurd that the school keeps putting it on the chopping block.
