Pierce County's Park Impact Fee is the lowest in the Puget Sound region - as a result, development of park land and the regional trail system is lagging behind growth. A current proposal to be considered by the Pierce County Council would increase the fee charged to developer from $385 to $2,552 for new house constitution - a fee on par (and in some cases, less than) other Puget Sound communities. This fee ensures that development "pays its way" toward the development of park and trails across the county.

Sign this petition to let the Pierce County Council know you support an equitable increase to the impact fee to ensure our parks and trails keep pace with growth - the livability of our communities rely on it!

The scale of this response is sufficient to move the conversation with the Pierce County Council from a casual inquiry to a formal request for a hearing. I am currently preparing a briefing document to present alongside this petition to ensure the proposed fee increase remains central to the next planning session.

I support such a fee so long as ALL residential developers pay their fair share. Apartment/condo builders as well as single and multi family house builders all need to share this cost equally. ALL residents use parks whether they live in apartments, condos townhouses, duplexes, multi-plexes or single family residences.

Years ago everyone in most areas of the county had a vacant field, some woods or a forest near their house. With continuing bad planning our rural and suburban neighborhoods have become functionally urban, loosing those open spaces. New development should pay for its impact on wildlife habitat (don't come crying if a bear, coyote or cougar eats your Chihuahua) and existing housing/business.

Pierce County Parks completed the Master Plan for trails and the County Council adopted it. Funding to deliver upon the plan It is long overdue. Let's get it done with dedicated sustainable funding sources that accomplished the delivery in a reasonable time. Failure to act will result in a forever lost opportunity as areas get developed without said community trails.

I support the fee proposal. There needs to be a fee for demolishing restorable homes. A fee high enough that it might make saving a home more profitable

Please approve this impact fee proposal. It is long overdue and will help to fund the acquisition and construction of trails in Pierce County that will benefit all of our citizens.

Whether we play sports, walk, run or cycle in them, find a Pokémon Go or just sit and relax we all use and enjoy parks. It's long past time we fund parks to the degree they deserve - we deserve.

We need to fund parks and trails to keep up with need as population grows. This would be a one-time charge on new development to fund completion of parks and trails.

Let's fund our Parks and Trails st an adequate level. Good for our health and the environment and the economy.
