Please sign this petition if your childwas denied a functional electric stimulator (Bioness or Walkaide) by your insurance after it was prescribed by your child's physician.
I had to pay for my boys, it was heard, but it is something that should be paid by insurance. The funny thing is that the insurance company paid for the pads but not the walk aide itself.

we were able to get one but without insurance. A family shouldn't have to go into serious debt to get their child with CP something that can help them walk.

My daughter has cp. In the year she's had her walkaides she no longer falls, she no longer trips, she no longer drags her foot and shoes can last more than a few months. It's criminal these devices aren't widely available for children. We paid $10,000.00 out of pocket for ours. Think of what that amount can do for a family, for a college fund, but instead it's used to help my child walk.

My daughter who has cerebral palsy has been helped by her Walk Aide! Every child deserves the most effective medical treatment for their condition. Cost should not be a barrier, and insurance is supposed to pay for healthcare including medical devices.

All kids and people need a fighting chance. When kids and parents can work hard and still need help, then all of us need to help and support them. The insurance companies need to get real and not just look for their bulging bottom line.
