Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

Finally starting to make some progress and now potentially change it? Why? Come on, get sensible, quit killing seattle. We need to be compassionate but we need to enforce the laws on the books. I'm sick of paying my taxes, my parking tickets and watching this city become inundated with homeless and addicts with no plan except let them do whatever they feel like in many regards. This is what it feels like. My goodness, compassion is essential but so too are laws.

Being homeless does not exempt you from all law's that keep our city a safe & healthy community. Choosing to ignore sex trafficing, domestic abuse, stabbings, shootings, accumulation of human filth, and all of the hazards that civil society must endure every day is not cruel nor inhumane. Failing to address these conditions is just an abdication of civic responsibility.

The health of the homeless and our city will both be compromised even further by the Seattle City Council if this proposal is passed.

I've been supporting services for over 30 years and as the city has gotten more lenient about camping, the problems have gotten significantly worse.

Please follow the expert’s advice on dealing with this issue. We need a results driven approach now! I already feel unsafe walking in many places due to “campers” ( Ravenna Park, Discovery Park, Green Lake, along canal in Fremont) and I am not alone in feeling that these public areas are being taken over!

The law regarding illegal encampments needs to be enforced. Allowing them to continue is the opposite of compassion. Why do you think Buffalo Industries is leaving Seattle?

I have provided services to the citizens of Seattle, including homeless, for 25 years. Tent encampments are bad, permanent shelter is good.

As a parent of two young children living near a neighborhood park that has been overrun by addicts and hazardous garbage (needles and condoms), I fully support this petition. Who decides what parts of parks are 'inactive' anyway? When you go out with small children, they like to explore, and it's just not OK to imagine them stumbling upon an encampment and/or human waste and hazardous garbage. Taxpayers that pay for these parks don't set up house there, and now we can't even use parts of those parks at all, lest we risk the safety of ourselves and our children?...

things-get advice and do the humane tha follow The City paid a consultant. Now we need to do the humane things of housing people-even if they don't want to leave streets. It is not ok for them, for us and for visitors. Wasting money closing down and fencing one site only leads to the homeless moving somewhere else and the cycle starts again.

terrible idea. the city is already failing at keeping our greenbelts and parks clean and safe for all - this will make it worse.

We must protect our parks and public spaces for al to use. When campers move in to these spaces, they are typically threatening and make a mess of the place. We need leaders who can rely on expert advice and employ programs that are fact based and proven to work. Navigation teams are having success and should be allowed to continue. Drug use is out of control and most of the campers are heroin addicts that leave behind toxic and dangerous needle trash. Unsanctioned camps have been found in recent years to have raped under age girls and illegal guns were found in a drug dealing tent. We will continue to see crime go up, women and children exploited, and our valuable green spaces and parks will be destroyed if we allow council's proviso to pass. This is not what I pay taxes for.

I strongly oppose the provision to legalize encampments in public parks as a violation of the City’s public trust to protect them.

This proposal is counterproductive and will stop the progress that's being made by the Navigation Team. Let's focus on solutions rather than regressive inaction.

This is a public health hazard for everyone and we MUST NOT cut funding. If we don't, this will hurt everyone in Seattle.

As was brought up in our d5 community meeting, immagrants from 3rd world countries say that living in Seattle is the same if not worse. This action by over zealous politicos trying to build a name is wrong and hurts public safety.

Please stop this

Please don't allow the park and sidewalk camping to continue and grow. Make this city livable for all of its citizens by lifting everyone up rather than dragging everyone down together into the abyss.

Don't cut the funding!
