The least compassionate thing you can do is stop active engagements by navigation teams at unsanctioned camps .

I live near the low barrier encampment and have seen the rapid degradation of the neighborhood. I can't imagine what would happen without the navigation team and funding to help keep us safe, as well as those less fortunate to not have a home over their heads. Come and spend some time here before finalizing your decision!

Sawant has been using her council position as a self-promoting, activist soapbox . She espouses her 'progressive' values while remaining completely out of touch with the reality of the long term implication s of non-sanctioned tent camping for our city & the homeless themselves. Be an activist, Sawant, but get off the council.

To allow mentally ill, drug addicted and alcoholic citizens of our affluent city to live on the streets is inhumane. A progressive city should provide rapid rehousing with social services on site. Council Members Sawant and O'Brien live in a alternative reality quite apart from established best practices on this issue. It's a appalling.

This is insane. Our once-beautiful city is looking like a garbage dump, with piles of abandoned shopping carts and bicycle chop-shops. What is the City Council doing to address this? Stop going backwards!

This city needs to be just as “compassionate” to those of us paying the taxes and working to make a living here. This city needs an immediate intervention in the homeless and injection departments.

Why is it that ordinary citizens have no voice with the city council? Why is the council so intent on punishing tax paying homeowners and renters, as though we don't matter compared to addicts?

There is nothing compassionate or humane about allowing people to live in unsafe, unsanitary, dangerous situations. The city must do the right thing and continue clearing out encampments and connecting the people living in them with services and alternate living arrangements.

What kind of 3rd world, banana republic city is Seattle aspiring to be? Allowing non tax payers to claim public property as their own, trashing our city with their tents and bags of junk, allowing “safe” heroin injection sites? WTF happened to this city?
