Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

Campsites are for camping not parks.

Homelessness is a sensitive issue..but public camping brings a multitude of safety and health issues and does nothing to eliminate the problem.

I am ashamed at my fellow Seattle residents have voted in these council members. Their misguided progressive agenda is ruining this city. If their agenda is to lead the country in allowing homeless / urban campers (most not from Seattle) to fill our parks sidewalks then they have achieved their goal. If their liberal progressive agenda (encourage drug use safe injection sites etc) which have directly lead to Seattle leading the nation in personal property crime then they have done a great job. I personally don't think that just leads us to ruin

Mr O'Brien, City Parks exist for everyone's enjoyment. What is the plan to prevent illegal activities, including defecation, sex in a public space, drug use, littering, etc. in the parks? THERE IS NO PLAN, and there is no capacity for either the city or the county to provide staff to prevent these activities. I live 2-blocks from a public city park attached to a public school. A year ago I walked past a heroin cooking kit (cut off soda can, needle) on the north side of the park. According to your proposal, next year I can look forward to more of the same and NO CHILDREN playing there. What future are you promoting for us?

It is time to deal with the root cause and Seattle City Counsel needs to stop band-aiding this issue.

Ignoring this situation will not make it go away. Being more friendly to encampments will only make it worse. Sadly there are some homeless that need increased services to get out of abject poverty but a decent proportion that do not care to improve their situation and will be fine accepting all of Our cities “compassion” it is willing to dish out. We cannot allow littering, drug addicted scofflaws to continue to set up shop in our public parks. This is an issue we must take a more aggressive line on.

Please continue to fund and increase the budget for navigation teams. We cannot continue to have tent cities in our city parks.

I am signing this petition provisionally. I oppose illegal and unsafe encampments, AND I oppose strong-armed police tactics. We MUST quickly go to a "housing first" model while providing compassionate social services for our vulnerable homeless citizens.

Impeach Sawant.

We need to fight hard for this not to happen! It would destroy our already "falling apart" city!

The “proviso”is not a comoassionate way to deal with homelessness.

Unbelievable that some city council members are more concerned with their own adgenda that listening to the people they serve. These council members need to go.

Please clean up our open spaces and parks and green belts. We are making a haven for people who cannot accept “rules” of public housing, and will ruin the City with debris and rubble. I see it in my park everyday.

The Seattle I was born in and my great grandma settled in looks like a developing nation. The homeless are citizens too and deserve mental health help, drug rehabilitation and housing. Encampments are dangerous to not only the homeless but to all of the citizens of Seattle. Please let us help the homeless reasonably with navigation funding and not facilitate their further demise by broadening encampments.
