Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

We have a good solution in place that is making progress. Allowing camping in more greenspace and parks is not a solution and impacts all Seattleites. Let's keep the focus on helping people by getting them out of these camps - not by allowing more of them.

Please do not allow public encampments! A woman was attacked by a homeless woman a block from my house last week. I am afraid to let my kids walk home from school. Please keep the streets and parks safe.

Absolutely not, let's have law and order in our city, let's not fund and sanction illegal activity and make our city a further draw for this. Let's put law-abiding citizens rights and safety first.

I whole heartedly oppose sanctioning homeless camps in our city's green spaces. Our communities deserve to have these areas be safe, tobhave a place for our children to play without an increased risk to their safety whether it be remnants of drug paraphernalia or obstinate campers. Allowing camping in these areas is not fair to our communities.

As a senior citizen living in Seattle, I am sad to see what has happened to my neighborhood. The strewn litter and dangerous living conditions are making the city unliveable for law abiding, taxpayers. Please make cleaning up our city and getting people odff our streets a priority!

So many orange heroin caps, people on drugs..and having to call 911 for vocally abusive,and strung out street people. Then there's damage to structures and theft.

Please keep our family and children safe in our public space. These space are for everyone to use temporarily. We should not be able to use it overnight. We are required to pay fees to even use the picnic tables in these parks. I think equatible distribution is out of control in our city. We need to encourage those who are displaced to find alternate solutions that will keep them safe from those who will take adbvantage of their displacement like sex trafficking. Thanks

Public health is a huge issue. This plan does not take care of everyone’s health. As the taxpayers, I feel our health is at risk! When these encampments are allowed to degrade the area they are in. You seem to Consider the SIS an emergency to public health, yet you don’t seem to care about the public health of all Seattlites.

More camping is not a solution, just an extension of the problems.

The more we enable activity like this the more prolific and widespread it will become. What percentage of the ground has to be covered in garbage and used needles for the city to take action and put its foot down and say no more? No one is entitled to live in Seattle, especially for free, so if we're going to set up facilities for them do it outside of the city where it's cheaper and set up shuttles to take them in and out of the city for needed services.

Encampments are both illegal and dangerous - this is not a reasonable solution.

We have already had to fight this once before. Is the City Council of Seattle even listening to their constituents? We do not want homeless encampments in our parks more the parking strips. This is unsafe and unsanitary not to mention the liability if someone (especially a child) are hurt by this reckless ill considered proviso. When will commen sense return to our city government. Start paying attention to what voters really want and use the plans in place like Navigation center and Pathways home plan. We spent 61 million dollars on this issue this year alone. Where is the permanent housing? How have the homeless really been helped?

Seattle has become a garbage dump, I used to be so proud of our city, it was so beautiful. Not so anymore. We need to enforce our laws related to camping, parking, drug use, etc. DO NOT allow the situation to get worse. As a tax paying citizen our voices should be heard and be powerful. Thank you

Please continue to prevent people from living permanently / temporarily within Seattle city limits on public property not authorized by the voters for temporary housing. To do so would neither be humane or legal. Ms. Sawant claims to have the homeless soul in mind; but, her actions & words suggest otherwise. Trust the voters who always provide resources to help those in need who accept it. Council member Sawant has demonstrated repeatedly by word and deed that she cannot be trusted.

The proposed proviso is unbelievably irresponsible on so many counts. It flies in the face of the experience of Portland and other cities that tried to embark on this road--very unsuccessfully. I entirely agree that homelessness is a hard problem to solve but this is NOT the way. I'm amazed we have to contend with this bizarre, irresponsible proposal yet again.
