Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

It’s irresponsible to cut funding that fundamentally benefits the community (both those with homes and the homeless). Garbage, human waste and needles left ignored is a hazard to everyone’s health. It’s shameful to consider cutting funding to clean encampment sites. Shame on you.

Please do not adopt the proposed proviso that would limit funding for removals of some tent encampments.

You are going backwards with this idea. Our neighborhoods are getting so bad and your idea will make this situation explode even more!

As Trump is to the country our Seattle City Government is to the City...hell bent on destroying the City to serve the homeless, drug addicts, and criminals.

City Council, stop allowing uninvited homeless people from spoiling our beautiful parks, public places and commercial establishments. These bring people bring only danger, crime, drugs and filth, polluting our beautiful city. Get to shelters and care that are being offered.

Camping should not be allowed in our parks! It is a terrible idea and benefits no one.

Drugged and drunk homeless men have made my neighborhood a lawless trash heap and daily pollute salmon stream Thornton Creek and its vital riparian vegetation areas. For the first time in my more than 10 years here, as a woman I feel unable to walk alone on my own street. This is ridiculous! Show some compassion for those of us who have worked hard to help our local environment!

Please do not destroy our public parks. Camping excludes other users from the area. This not an answer to the homeless problem.

I can't park my car and shopping carts all over the place. Why is it legal for the homeless. We have spent $60 million last year, yet have a bigger problem. Perhaps taxing and throwing money isn't working!!!

The humane thing to do is help homeless get into shelter and prevent them from living in unsanitary, dangerous conditions. Also keeps crime down for them and neighbors both.

City council members need to listen to their citizens and vote against proposals that degrade our neighborhoods. This proposal provides constructive solutions, not just NIMBY rejection.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE clean up the homeless problem in Seattle!!! It is becoming extremely dangerous for the people living in them and for the people in the communities they are occurring. It’s unacceptable and terrifying that things have gotten this bad.

I was one of the hundreds of people who showed up at City Hall last year to protest the council's intent to encourage camping in our parks. Thankfully, the mayor's office stopped the intended vote with a common-sense / compassionate solution that seems to be helping. I propose sanctioning camping in the City Hall parking garage as a safe alternative to parks - where the problem can't be missed rather than pitting park-lovers against people needing help. I noticed at the public outcry meeting that Ms. Sawant didn't bother to show up, although she had just returned from a vacation for the previous council session just a few days before. She doesn't like to lose, so didn't show up. She is a huge problem, an agitator, not a problem solver.

Turning our parks into refugee camps is not the answer

Please think about the quality of life for all of us in our city, not just the homeless. Pass this crazy measure and no taxpayers will visit a park again because of what is lurking in the underbrush.
