If we see a stray dog we take it to a shelter with a safe, clean, hygenic space with food and water... we can do the same for people on the street

This is insane. Unsanctioned camping ruins neighborhoods.

Please do not allow camping in our parks. Doing so will make them less safe for all of us to enjoy.

This is not a safe.... conmunity valued viable option on either a short term or long term basis. It exacerbates rather than heals the problem.

No camping allowed. Develop programs to help the homeless without destroying our Parks.

O'Brien's proposal will significantly erode quality of life in Seattle. I could not be more opposed.

We need to do more as a city to address the root cause of homelessness (eg mental illness, substance abuse, job skills training, etc)...not just allow the homeless more places to "camp"... And especially not in parks. We need a thoughtful approach to temporary housing that is "supported by" all citizens and neighborhoods... Not just philosophicaly, but financially and by hosting temporary housing. We can do better than camps and better than turning our parks into campgrounds for our fellow Seattlites.

The proposed provision lacks common sense, compassion for the homeless and any regard for the communities of Seattle, who will have limited access to their own public spaces! We're also paying for homeless solutions, let's see some accountability with solutions that work, instead of making everything worse.

I remain concerned and confused as to why our city council remains infatuated with a plan that is bad for all - bad for our children, bad for our parks, and bad for the homeless problem. Please vote against this proposal.

Absolutely no unsanctioned camping in Seattle, period. Enough money is being spent on this problem now. Stop attracting more homeless from all over the country. And absolutely no sanctioned heroin shoot up sites as this will only attract more non tax paying, dysfunctional people to our city. Enough freeattle. Middle class tax paying residents have had enough.

Camping in green spaces is unsafe, both for the campers, who need actual shelter and resources, and for the public who would have to scour public areas for needles and human waste before using the parks. Equally as important, allowing open-ended camping would effectively prevent others from using that part of the public space. No one should be allowed to prevent anyone else from using a public space. In essence, open-ended camping and a proviso preventing city staff from removing campers could be considered to allow, under common law, any person to take up residence in a park and claim the land for himself or herself.

It is NOT compassionate to allow the homeless to live in such squalor. I think forcing them to consider shelters, detox, rehab and other options is the solution vs enabling them to live this way. It's cruel. It's also disasterous to our beautiful city to allow these eyesores and health hazards. I'm a fairly new resident here and this side of Seattle has me looking elsewhere already to set up long term and raise my family as I don't think the council is listening to tax payers.
