Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

We can not ignore the dangers the downtrodden of our city are facing. Connect our fellow citizens with services, provide safe shelters, remove the hazardous waste and debris from our streets.

We need a reasonable approach that respects the rights of all citizens. Camps should not be allowed where they cause harm or take over public spaces from other uses.

Please publish the home addresses of all City Clowncil members ... so I know where to dump the human feces and used needles that will render toxic what I currently call my neighborhood.

This is NOT an appropriate use of our green spaces. Please do not allow this to happen.

Unsanctioned camping shows that the homeless wish to live in groups. Please provide shelter with dignity where families can remain together. Please make more tiny houses villages for homeless like the ones on 87th and Aurora N AND Nickelsville Tiny House village. Stop facilitating dangerous tent encampments.

These are street people, they are druggies or mental...quit enabling them, if you are going to pass a law, pass it that they need to be in treatment!

Do not allow camping in Seattle public spaces. Absolutely stupid! Trashing public places creates more problems. You also burn bridges with generous property tax payers.

I am strongly against any action (and candidate) that will allow homeless people camping in our city parks. There are already parks that I won't go to by myself as I don't feel that being alone would be safe. And now you want to add to that? Have you seen what I-5 looks like? Do you want our parks to look like this? Do you want kids and dogs that play in parks to potentially come in contact w/ human waste, needles, etc.? We already have homeless folks that from time to time camp in our nearby watershed area, where we, along w/ many of our neighbors, hike, walk our dogs and check out the restoration work that's been done. The folks that have camped there have left all of the kinds of garbage you would expect. Just another wonderful part of my neighborhood that I won't go by myself. I even worry about going w/ my husband. What on earth in Seattle's government thinking? This is not a solution! It's an embarrassing way to sweep the mess under the rug, push it out of the way until something terrible happens at a park. Allowing camping in “inactive" parts of parks where plants, trees and shrubs grow?? Who is going to go in and clean that up? Is there money to hire staff to clean that? Who protects the habitat, the plants, trees ands shrubs that make our parks somewhere we want to spend time in? Shame on Seattle politicians that thinks that we, the tax-paying, hard-working, voting citizens of Seattle, deserve to have our urban green spaces become the filthy eyesore I-5 has become. I'll vote for anyone/any measure that helps people in need, helps people get off the streets, into job training/school, helps them fight mental illness. That's progress. Opening our parks to homeless encampments is not an option. Shame on Seattle if this plan goes forward.

“The city council is insane! Do NOT allow camping in those spaces that are to be enjoyed by all citizens. Homeless camping will render our parks and open spaces unsafe, filthy and unsightly for the VAST majority of the city inhabitants! It is bad enough already. We, the people of Seattle, have the right to have our park and open spaces available for all to enjoy, SAFELY. Law abiding, contributing citizens will be shut out of our park and open spaces if the areas are infiltrated with those who have come to “free-attle” to live for free at our waterfront parks, our wooded parks and our open spaces. My husband and I pay a HUGE amount of money in property taxes, B&O taxes, employment taxes etc. I’m getting ready to move to out and take my money elsewhere. Get a GRIP Seattle! BTW, I’m a true Seattle Native, since the 1950’s. My dad since the 1920’s. My Grandfater since the early 1900’s (from Alaska originally). Both my grandfather and my dad are rolling in their collective ashes. Shame on Seattle.

The Homless proliferate in seattle because they can. They have plenty of other tax payer funded options. Safe parks for taxpayers (who pay for them) to use!!!!

Dear City Council, Please do not allow free-range homeless encampments in our city, There are better ways, such as those included in Mayor Burgess' budget for helping those in need of help and support. Thank you, Deborah Davis

We need to keep our parks, streets and other public areas clean and safe for all who live in Seattle, and also visitors and tourists. These illegal encampments are unsafe, dirty, and frightening to encounter and encourage crime and blatant drug trade and use.

Green belt camping is not the solution to help homeless, it will only isolate the people that need services the most. It would be the nail in the coffin for green belts and parks that are designed for recreational enjoyment NOT for housing.

Enabling the city's homeless to continue to exist in drug-infested dens of crime and filth does no good for them or the safety for the citizens around these camps. The city should be focused on proactive drug enforcement with a focus on addiction treatment and mental health rehabilitation.

The council members need to represent all of Seattle’s citizens. Frequently, they have ignored those who pay the taxes that fund the city’s expenses, including the salaries of the council members. I moved to Seattle from the east side and am dismayed at how far downhill it has gone - The homeless situation, the narrowing of the roads, the blocking of the lanes on the roads with bus stops being bumped out, etc.

Please do not allow illegal encampments or camping vehicles within Seattle
