Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

We need clean and safe parks for the hard working, tax paying and law abiding citizens.

A terrible idea.

Please! Protect people. Protect the environment. Restore public safety and health.

Please let Mayor Burgess continue funding to clean up the encampments. Do not allow the members of the City Council to pass ordinance allowing homeless to camp in any public area. We need to provide housing not camping.

Unsanctioned camping has turned this city into a dangerous place to walk, play, work, and live. We need to provide services and more low income housing and stop allowing our sidewalks and parks to be inhabited by the populations of homeless drug users.

As a mental health and substance abuse counselor, I know that "make shift" residences are not in the temporary or permanent residents best interest.

Allowing camping in public spaces is not compassionate. Unsafe and unsanitary conditions do not help campers or neighbors. Additionally, the costs of cleaning up the spaces, including hazmat, are astronomical. Getting people into shelters or housing is cheaper in the long run.

I agree with with the proposal made in this petition

I am singing this petition as government needs to be focused on permanent solutions. It is better to use current ordinances to remove people from public spaces, making harder for homeless to encamp so that they are then motivated to seek permanent solutions. Encampments are NOT permanent solutions.

I live near a homeless camp where one person has a crossbow and a machete. The police told me that they are afraid of this situation and can't do anything about it.

Allowing unauthorized in encampments on public land is the epitome of doing the wrong thing for the right reason. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. Fully fund the intervention teams, public schools, and mental health support.

Please do not pass this "proviso" from Kshama Sawant, and do proceed with Mayor Burgess's proposed funding. Thank you.

I do not support encampments on public lands. It is a bad answer to a growing problem.

Having homeless people camp in greenspace destroys the quality of life for all families who live near and use these spaces. Its about the stupidest proposal I have ever seen.

I am so embarrassed when visitors comment on how trashed out Seattle is due to these homeless encampments. It looks like a tornado went through. It is sad to see our tax dollars spent cleaning these up when these people trash it out immediately afterwards. They have no respect for public or private property. These encampments need to be shut down so that these people can be held accountable for their lawlessness and incentivized to accept help. City leaders who support these encampments in the name of 'compassion' are way off base. It is a dangerous situation that is detrimental to all involved. This situation will only deteriorate more if these encampments are allowed to continue.
