Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

allowing random, unsanctioned camping is a filthy disgrace to our city. These people deserve a place to sleep and we should provide help, but not on unsanctioned property!

Would O’Briens front yard be OK for them?

Experience tells me that the top 10% will always do well. If our parks and public spaces turn into slums the top will gravitate to private safe spaces. The bottom 10% will always do poorly. The question is how much will we take from the middle 80% through ill conceived initiatives? The public space doesn't belong to the city council. It belongs to the citizens. The public employees and elected officials are our assigned stewards. I reluctantly conclude that our officials have failed us and should be replaced.

If you have a problem, you are offered help and you refuse it, you are not welcome to trash my neighborhood. This includes camping, squatting, robbing, defacating, taking over bus stops from those who need them and more. Don't think this group is going to die down because this group represents a majority not the minority like you are, even though we presumably voted for you.

I urge the Seattle City Council to take the high road and do the right thing! Would you endorse housing your families in city parks and underpasses during the the harsh Seattle winters, of course not! It is time to take real action instead of sweeping real people under the rug like dust. Please use some of Seattle's surplus funds, and partner with corporations like Amazon, Google, Vulcan and Microsoft that have an interest and a long term stake in Seattle and develop permanent housing solutions for the homeless either inside or outside Seattle. I am sure you agree with me that this is the right thing to do!

I have voted for every tax that has come my way to help those in need, that includes getting them indoors and receiving services. I expect the interventions, including the sweeps, to be funded with those tax dollars. My young children walk home from school everyday and we never know who the new tent or vehicle neighbor we have may be. This is more than just an issue of compassion, it is also an issue of perceived safety.

Hold people accountable!! Just say NO

I am particularly alarmed by the tent camping along our roads and in our parks, creating health hazards, social hazards, and impacting my and other citizens' full use of our public spaces. Our parks are designed for recreation of all citizens, not appropriation by a few.

Please stop this never ending expansion of tent encampments that are ubiquitous throughout this city. On the bike trail there are rats laying dead. Haven't seen that before, indicating to me the problem is worsening.

Such a short sided solution from O'Brien and Sawant.

The current situation of people experiencing homelessness is unacceptable. No tents, no emcampments! People need to be moved to shelters, moved to housing, not left in tents under bridges or along the freeway as though sleeping rough is just another life choice.

Let's prevent Mike O'Brien from keeping the homeless, homeless and actually improve the City for all.

These unsanctioned campsites must be swept clean and removed. The conditions these individuals are living in are unhealthy, unsafe and unsanitary and provide a haven for criminals and their stolen goods. Condoning these illegal encampments by the City of Seattle is endangering the law abiding, tax paying citizens that work hard for their homes, belongings and taxes they pay! Enough is enough!!

Why is this coming up again? This camp anywhere Legislation is ridiculous!

What about the rest of us? Do we not matter because we are housed and not addicts? Why are our rights to safe and peaceful neighborhoods denied? And how does it help anyone to "allow" them to live in squalor in formerly public spaces, feeding their drug habits by robbing their neighbors and begging for handouts?

Allowing people to live on the streets is immoral and unsafe for everyone in the community

Here's hoping the City Council will continue to listen to the majority seeking a clean, safe city.

Encampments are unsafe for those who use them, unsanitary beyond description, and a completely inadequate response to homelessness.
