Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

Please, NO !

We can NOT allow homeless encampments to take over our city parks and green spaces. The majority pay to maintain; why should the minority get the carte blanche? Any homeless site, whether single or multiple, turns into a squatter's filthy mess. Don't let this happen to our city parks!

This Proviso makes no sense. City council seems to want to recreate the wheel over and over again. Stick with what works and Mayor Burgess's proposed budget. Every expert has told the city again and again that unauthorized encampments do not help the homeless and put them at risk.

Just got back from Sydney Australia. Saw NO vagrant camping, very, very little panhandling or graffiti. We do jot have to live in the hell hole that Seattle is becoming.

The proposed budget proviso respects NEITHER homeless persons need for adequate housing NOR Seattle’s obligation to preserve green space now and for future generations.

Allowing people to live in tents and rv's is not humane or compassionate. Those that seek help do. Those that don't want off the streets deal drugs, prostitution, steal, and pollute.

Seattle is NO longer the beautiful Emerald City it once was and the blame lays squarely on the City Council and their fail policies. My friend is moving his business from Leary Way in Ballard due to the RVs blocking his parking and distributing drugs from one RV.

As a small business owner in SODO, the homeless and RV squatters are getting out of hand. I have experienced first hand harassment and targeting of myself and my business. The focus, yes, needs to help those that want it, emphasis on WANT HELP, and force those that don't out of our city or put them in jail. They add no value or benefit to our city, except filth, criminal acts, drug abuse, prostitution, environmental dumping of their sewage into our water ways, and constant littering that any other law abiding citizen would be fined, held accountable, and or jailed. Our Police Force's hands are tied thanks to the ineffective leadership of our Mayor and City Council Members. I pay taxes, abide by the laws and I'm subjected to all of the above everyday because their is no recourse for our legal system to control this situation. I am embarrassed for Seattle!

Beyond SICK and tired of mayor(s), City Council CODDLING this sub-population, ALLOWING it to flourish and grow....anywhere. Lower QAnne is a cesspool, as are the majority of parks I frequent. MAKE it a crime, dammit! CLEAN it up!! Have you seen James St., under I-5?! It's a KOA site!!

Allowing public lands to be occupied illegally incentivized more of rhe same behavior. Absolutely no unsantioned”camping” in these taxpayers maintained properties should be facilitated by government officials.

Unsanctioned camping is a danger to non-homeless residents and their children as well as to the homeless themselves. Get this homeless some help and clean up the mess and dangerous drug paraphernalia left behind. Please support Mayor Burgess' proposed budget.

There are three or more near our residence north of the Pike St. Market. Neighbors have had things thrown at their cars near the Battery Street Tunnel. The fire department has responded to fires set under the viaduct on Lenora. The drug dealers carrying their stash who live there have have expensive mountain bikes for their deliveries, the tent they live in are expensive high quality. Poor homeless would be in danger in any of these encampments. We are not safe harboring the kind of people using them.

We live in North Beacon Hill and are surrounded by encampments. We hear gunfire in the middle of the night on a regular basis, especially near encampments near Rainier Ave. Just last week, we had a homeless woman enter our backyard, claim she was assaulted, and we had to call 911. I was also saddened by longtime SODO business Buffalo Industries literally having to re-locate their entire business because our city "leaders" won't do their job. It's time to stop the incompetence and start electing true leaders who truly serve our great city - not liberal career-consumed politicians who continue to make bad decisions for Seattle.

Just returned from Boston and my wife and I could not stop saying "where are all the homeless people". We are definitely doing it wrong in Seattle.

PLEASE continue to provide services and outreach, AND limit the growth of unauthorized encampments in our city. They are a public health hazard and provide unsafe conditions for any humans to live in.

There are campers by my work on Lake Union and they break into our business and poop there at night. They throw their used needles on the ground and in the Lake. It isn't safe to use our parks or even walk down the streets in the areas where the campers are!

There’s a better solution to homelessness than losing our parks to encampments. We need carefully thought out long-term solutions.

Camping is not a solution and not even a good stop-gap measure for the city or the homeless. Time to come up with real housing and addiction solutions, along with education and training.
