Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

I feel unsafe taking my kids to Woodland Park. The woods are full of human feces and there is garbage all around people's encampments. Don't encourage the problem. Create a SOLUTION! - Mental health care opportunities, affordable, or even free, housing for the homeless. I bet paying for housing is cheaper than what we are now spending to just push the problem into the future. Let's just FIX it. No more band-aids at other people's expense.

The City Council is going too far and not protecting/helping the homeless population OR the people of Seattle that pay for social services and would like to feel safe in our community.

This proviso will ensure the environmental destruction of our city's already ravaged, remaining green spaces, and will exacerbate the health, safety and social problems that go with homelessness. This proviso shows the disconnect from reality suffered by its authors. It will be terrible for Seattle's citizens, including those who, through mental illness, addiction or choice, cannot manage to procure their own indoor dwelling. It's madness.

City council, why do you want Seattle to look like a homeless encampment? Humans should live in homes, not tents on the side of the road; enabling them to do so doesn't begin to solve the problem. I am extremely disappointed at the city council's stance on this issue. FIX THE PROBLEM!

I consider this proposal as dangerous and unsafe. Let's find a better set of solutions!

Please stop trashing Seattle!

Why are you proposing this again? Didn't the HUGE backlash against allowing homeless camping in parks the last time you proposed this give you a clue that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE?

Allowing homeless camping, or any camping, in the parks will have serious adverse consequences, including: trash, sanitation issues, needles on the ground, homeless takeover of park shelters and facilities, ecological degradation, crime, and that many citizens will not feel safe and stop going to the parks. In a year the parks will be homeless occupied and unfriendly to taxpaying citizens.

As a bicycle commuter traveling through downtown areas, I find unsanctioned camping hazardous and quite unpleasant. Also, in conversations with tourists who have visited Seattle they remark how ugly the camping makes the city. Please enforce existing regulations.

Please concentrate on housing the homeless who have lived in Seattle for more than a year, and have previously lived in a legal dwelling.

This is not the answer. Homelessness should be addressed not just passively allowed without action and assistance.

Stop enabling the homeless, please! I'm so tired of your continued taxation of hard working Seattleites - did you catch that? Working??? - How about YOU pay for them since you're so enamored with the issue!

Not only will this deter locals from enjoying the parks their city dollars pay for. But the bio hazards that come with a lack of plumbing and sanitary conditions will be a threat to public safety. Put those tax dollars to use in funding housing solutions. People should not be living on the streets. They need a decent way to get back into housing. Look at the micro housing studios! Why can something like this not be done.

Illegal encampments are pushing Seattle's own tax paying citizens out of Seattle because no one wants to encounter the garbage, the danger, the solicitations for money, the exposure to seeing people do drugs right in front of them. What about protecting the interests of the citizens who make this city a healthy and safe place to live instead of just protecting and overspending on non-solutions? Council Member Sawant and CM Mike O'Brien's do NOT speak for me and do not look out for my interests as a Seattle Resident.

Homeowner and small business owner. Seattle is driving businesses away with ideas like this.

We have a drug problem that the city encourages to the detriment of the addict.

The safety of our children, families and neighborhoods needs to be first priority by the city council when making decisions regarding homelessness.
