Unsanctioned Camping is Unsafe! Fully Fund Compassionate Intervention!

Stable warm housing has been proven to support growth and forward movement for people moving out of homelessness. It also supports our city health and economy by having clean environments and people contributing to our city rather than living in squalor, leaving trash everywhere and creating unnecessary work for city clean up services.

This is putting the rest of the community in jeapordy. I opposed allowing encampments in my Greenlake neighborhood.

Enforce the laws

People living in city spaces not intended for living, are posing health risk for the city. There is a problem with sanitation, trash, used needles. Once e.g. Hep A epidemy starts, it is nearly impossible fight.

We have a prosititute/drug addict and 2 vehicles with drug activity in it living in their junk cars on our parking strip on and off for the past month. This has caused great fear and worry in our immediate neighborhood with many small children in it. These are not "homeless" people. They are drug addicts that need help. Allowing these people to set up camp on our streets and in our green spaces is dangerous for all of us. Theses are desperate people who will do anything for drugs. We need to start figuring out who is honestly homeless and who is homeless due to substance abuse! They should never be placed in the same category or housed together. Many of the drug addicts living in cars and on our streets are not even from here. We need to work hard to help those who are not addicts and can work, to find homes. We need to figure out how to help the addicts before we just give them free housing or this problem is going to get much worse. Homelessness or unhomed is not one group of people, we need to stop treating this as just a homeless problem. It is much, much greater than that.

While I'm concerned about all unauthorized camping in parks, etc., I am particularly against allowing RV camping in streets all over Seattle. As an RV owner, I know that lack of proper maintenance can lead to risk of fire from propane as well as sanitation issues from plumbing systems. NO living in RVs should be allowed streets in Seattle.

As a volunteer with the Parks Department in a 640 acre "nature park", I can't believe the city is demented enough to encourage vagrants to destroy all the hard work and money Parks Dept and its volunteers have put into repairing this habitat. It's just sick.

Please keep Seattle a nice place to live for EVERYONE. I have seen the damage done at Green Lake park by illegal encampments. I know of folks who have felt threatened while walking the path. Clean up dangerous and illegal encampments.

Allowing outdoor camping is not compassionate.

Let's be practical about serving our homeless that also meets the expectations of tax paying citizens.

We need results based solutions now!

Clean ups need to continue along with help offered to these people. Unsanctioned camps are a public health hazard as well as single occpancy camping. I work in Seattle nightly and constantly dodge used needles on the ground not to mention buckets used as toliets.

The homeless camping everywhere are an embarrassment to this city. What must the millions of tourists think of the garbage and the stench each "camper" creates? More importantly, what do Seattle residents think!?

We should provide housing in areas of Washington where it is not so expensive, so we provide more housing for the same amount of money. Homeless people can not afford to live in Seattle just as minimum wage earners can’t.

We all deserve better!

The Seattle City Council has lost its way and is not making our City better.

Please continue to clean up encampments and direct people to services.

No more using public parks as homeless shelters. Get people into shelters or mental institutions!

Encampments in Ravenna Park have gone from benign to a major safety problems as the residents build fires in areas with plants, trees and other vegetation.
