Get kids back in school 5 days a week! They are not at risk with this virus! Stop shutting the world down when so few of people are actually at risk!!

These kids need as much of their normalcy back. They need their teachers teaching them. These kids need the best that is adults can give them for the best chance to be upstanding adults in their future. Full time school because the virus isn’t as deadly as the media is making it seem to be.

There is not one proven case of a child passing Covid 19 to a teacher. Their is no science that proves school is a dangerous place for our kids to be rn, as a matter of fact it shows the opposite. It’s much more dangerous for them to be at home where many of them will spend a lot of their time on electronic devices where child predators can reach them. Keep them safe by keeping them in school.

This virus isn’t any more dangerous to kids than any other respiratory virus and those words are a quote from a doctor. So unless kids are living with older high risk individuals they need to be in a classroom with a trained teacher

Yes! I like Weber’s plan they announced today. I am wishing now I lived in Weber county again.

Having virtual school 3 days a week is extremely hard on working parents and some kids may end being left home alone. Many kids need school for structured learning and virtual learning does not provide an adequate education. Please reconsider.

Of any place on the planet, I would expect that in our schools and those making decisions for our schools would follow the the science vs. being driven by fear! Davis School District has made a unilateral decision about the well being of our children. I was not asked. My children were not asked. We were all told what was going to happen. That sparks anger for me and discounted despair for my children! This needs to be revisited and the input of all involved must be heard.
As a mental health professional, it appears to me that we are closing our eyes to the short and long term emotional costs to this plan. We know that suicide hotline calls have increased by 600% since the quarantine was put in place. We know that friends are paramount for children and their development. What are we doing to our children? The same children that are at low risk in contracting and transmitting this virus.
Get it together! Do what is best for the kids, not what is easy!

My son has an IEP and needs his face to face resource classes. This is going to make him fail his first year of jr and leave him further behind his classmates.

I find it sad that the people we turn to for knowledge can't put their heads together and see a way past this. All sorts of business's are functioning with plexy glass and what not. There is a solution, it just needs to be thought through. Our children are suffering. Maybe Teachers should only be paid for their days in class.

Virtual learning for my 6 year-old is very difficult due to his learning disability/trauma. Plus it is very difficult to get his dad to spend the time necessary doing online school due to his job. Burton is practically in my backyard, but I also want the kids to be safe. If the new plan must happen, Is it possible to have 2 teachers per classroom to teach the online kids so the in-school students get more 1:1 time like my son needs? He really needs a full-time aide, and we have done testing and hope to have one for this year. But that person would not be there on the online days. I am able to work with him on my days, but his dad says he will and then doesn’t. He refuses to let me help as well, and our son has suffered. He can’t read or write very well yet, and this is after hours and hours of work with him at my place, plus summer school. Jack didn’t do well at all with the virtual summer school, I had to sit with him the whole time and keep him on task. I REALLY worry that this online piece is going to be a failure for little Jack.

I’m a teacher in DSD. I’m also a mother. After speaking with my Primary Care Physician, who is local and sees many patients within this community, he scientifically and professionally stands by this statement: “Covid is a concern, we can’t ignore that fact. However, my colleagues and I are far more concerned of the detrimental effects our minor patients are going to endure mentally and physically.” And THAT is all I need to hear as a mother, and that is what I agree with 101% as an educator. It’s too bad I have to remain anonymous in fear of losing my job.

A modified option plan so students and teachers that want to be in school full time can like Weber School District would still allow for parental choice without forcing distance learning on children it did not work well for previously.
