I had a first grader last year taken out because of covid. First grade is where it all begins. These kids are not being considered at all they need to be in school

My husband and I work full time. We have four kids in four grades at three different schools. I have worked in online education for 13 years now (still do today) and I know that a hybrid option is going to cause irreparable damage to the most underserved and in-need populations. Some students will never be able to recover the ground that will be lost if we go with this option. If this hybrid approach looks ANYTHING like what happened in March-May, I am sincerely concerned for my children and my husband and I. My husband and I both work full time and do not have the time or resources to effectively guide all four of our children through the educational experience throughout each day to ensure they are meeting outcomes. What are we to do?

There are a lot of studies that show children do NOT learn the same through screen time education. Children with IEPs struggle as it is and changing their routines and learning methods has not been proven to be effective.
Parents and teachers should have choice over their children.

I am a single, working mom, who works at Farmington High. How am I supposed to be expected to be at work every day while my little ones are expecyed to be home three days of the week?! If I have to quit my job we lose our house and end up homeless! How is that beneficial to my children? How does that keep them safe and protected? How does this keep anyone protected?! Teachers are still expected to be there every day and are still being exposed to the same number of students. This "solution" creates far more problems than solutions. This is the most idiotic idea ever! I really hope those district leaders who claim to care about the well being of our teachers and students can see how this hurts everyone so much more than stdents being in class all day.

I believe it is best for students and educators to return to school full time in the fall. The academic and social consequences of missing more in person school will create gaps that society will grapple with for years to come.

We tried to learn at home when the schools first closed down. It was a nightmare and a battle every night. Both my husband and I work so it means we rely on babysitters to watch our kids. Babysitters don't guarantee things get done or are taught to my kids like a teacher could. Not only that but one of my children has an IEP. She is going to miss valuable class time for the services she will be getting. This limits her time with a teacher even more.

These children , especially mine needs in person face to face leaning. That’s the way he learns. Staring at a computer all day 3 days a week is unhealthy. If you can get them to do it. The teachers that are too afraid of the kids getting them sick shouldn’t be teachers. That has always been and always will be a hazard of the job. They knew that going in. So as a “essential worker” who has not missed a day of work since January 1 2020. Suck it up, it can be prevented with proper hygiene. Our children deserve better than this. 4th term was a nightmare the kids are already behind. Who is going to stand up for these kids, it’s not the teachers and not the district then I guess it’s going to have to be the parents. That’s really sad.

I’m a single parent and work for the school district. My children will be left home alone 3 days a week so I can work. Then I will need to come home and homeschool in the evenings. This is beyond frustrating.

The District needs to consult more parents, students, and teachers before making decisions like they announced yesterday. All voices need to be heard.
