full-time working single mom in town, full day would be amazingly helpful for my son's enrichment and for my professional needs.

Having full day kindergarten available to all Norwell families would provide a great benefit to the town of Norwell. The logistics for working parents to make half-day kindergarten work is beyond challenging. Also, full day kindergarten is a must when alternative childcare daycare is so expensive. Full day kindergarten is proven to boost academic performance over years of education – in a town with pride in its school system we need to ensure each child has this opportunity. Hingham successfully transitioned to full day, Norwell can do it too – the current lottery system needs to change. Cole, by example has ample space as there is a preschool classroom, which can be held elsewhere (Sparrell), and there also exterior space for modular classrooms if that were necessary. Full day kindergarten is a community priority, and I echo the sentiments of those who want to embrace this transition, and I join those who oppose those who resist it... My family is fortunate that our oldest son “won the lottery” for full day kindergarten, this year, and he loves it. With two working parents, we would not have been able to afford the alternatives, let alone shuttle mid-day. We very much hope our daughter and youngest son receive the same opportunity for full day kindergarten, only through a guarantee instead of the very stressful lottery system. It is time to make the push for what this community needs.

Completely agree. Full time kindergarten is a need in our town. All children should have the option.

Good Luck! All students deserve and need full day kindergarten especially with the rigorous curriculum that these little ones are expected to learn. Long gone the days of social behavior and into a world in which the students should be reading and writing before leaving kindergarten

It's unbelievable with this towns tax base that we are behind in education from surrrounding towns in any way shape or form. Is there a financial analysis of what full day will cost the town?

Education should not be about luck, while half-day Kindergarten is available, a study done in 2002 showed that Full-day Kindergarten boosted Academic Performance. Next year I'll have to hope that we are lucky at the lottery, the lottery for the Charter school or we will be faced with where to send our daughter for her fundamental Kindergarten year. Without Full day being implemented, many parents, including myself, will be stuck with finding private full-day Kindergarten, which is not only expensive but hard to find in Norwell. If the pilot was successful, why are we not moving ahead with full-day for all? We moved to Norwell for the schools. We read about the pilot happening and assumed that it would be put into place. If it is a money issue, I’d like to look at the detailed budget to see where we can find the funding. If it is a space issue, how can we utilize space within the Town to fulfill the need of this critical program.

Thank you and well said, Alicia. We must work together as a community to see that each child is given the same opportunity.

Full day kindergarten is extremely important today . I have watched kindergarten evolve from simple play with others learning colors numbers... to having savvy 5 yrs using computers ready for more complex activities. Even the souther states have full day kindergarten for all children and schools there are no where as highly rated as yours .

I don't really understand why there is a preschool program when we can't afford/fit a full day K program for all children?
