The goal of this petition is to demonstrate to the administration of The Florida State University College of Law that there is a genuine interest within its student body in a space law course offering. The space industry has long been of importance to the state of Florida and, with the emerging commercial space flight industry, should continue to be into the future. With the growth of this industry comes a variety of new, exciting, and complex legal issues on both a domestic and an international scale. As one of the top law schools in the nation, located in the capital city of a state with such a rich space flight history, Florida State University College of Law should provide its students with the opportunity to study space law and encourage them to become leading professionals and scholars in the field.
