This petition is truly the stupidest thing I've ever seen online, which is saying a lot. I hope you all realize that all of the filming is finished already except for a few pickup shots. Changing this major event would require reshooting the entire end of the movie, which won't happen no matter how many signatures you get.

I think the idea of a "special extended version" where Thorin lives is a great idea, just so everybody gets what they want.

Wow really? So when people make movies out of books, (examples such as the Hunger Games, Much Ado About Nothing, Harry Potter etc) and they kill off characters that don't die in the books, or introduce new characters that aren't even in the books, that's not changing it?
