Backyard Hens in Holly Springs NC
To the Town Council and Staff of Holly Springs North Carolina:
The signatures of Holly Springs residents, contained in support of this document, are to formally voice our position in support for amendment to the ordinance to allow backyard hens in the Town of Holly Springs.
This measure is intended to provide great opportunities for children and families who want to live a sustainable, 'green' lifestyle which includes their own backyard eggs.
The provision, in which we request, shall include:
* Designation of the hen as a 'pet' by Holly Springs.
* Requirement for 1/4 acre lot or larger,
* Must be kept in a small enclosure of no more than 50 sq ft,
* No more than 4 hens, and
* No roosters
We understand that only the Town Council can make such an adjustment to the Town Ordinance, and that the people have no other legal recourse except to ask the Town Council for this change.
Thank you for your prompt action on this matter and for the desire to show Holly Springs as a progressive 'green' community and leader in Wake County.
Sincerely,
The undersigned.
