Gettysvue High-Rise, High-Density Condo Development Protest

I oppose the plan to add 90 condos to the Gettysvue community!

18 Dwelling Units Per Acre in the middle of a single family residential golf course community is completely inappropriate. The proposed development is juxtaposed to the factors of low density serene golf course country club development, which attracted residents to the development, and enticed them to invest huge sums. No one who purchased a lot, built a home, and joined the Gettysvue Country Club would have done so if a 300,000 Square Foot apartment complex had been overlooking the clubhouse, the 9th green and fairway, and the adjacent homes. The land is zoned for 1-3 units per acre, which will allow for 11 or 12 golf villa's or townhomes. A perfect, complimentary fit.

In opposition to changing the zoning and building multi-story condos

I am totally against this development as it does not conform to single home dwellings in covenant and zoning laws not to mention the numerous other issues it would cause for traffic, views, club usage , utilities , to name only a few

As a resident of the Gettysvue community, I strongly oppose the proposed high-rise development. It goes against the covenants we all signed to maintain the neighborhood, would put an untenable strain on county services and infrastructure, would decrease property values, and the increased traffic would be a significant safety risk in our neighborhood that has no sidewalks for pedestrians.

My wife has ALS and we don't get out much, but I will sign the petition and make a contribution.

It is morally unacceptable that the financial benefit of few be allowed to hurt financially (and in several other ways) many of Gettysvue residents. Many, if not all, residents invested their lifetime savings in a home in Gettysvue, as a single-family home neighborhood, and were never informed of the potential for a future decrease in property value and decrease in quality of life by the construction of high rises within our community. It is not only about money: it has to do with character and enjoyment of this community. If we all wanted to live by a high-rise, we would have purchased a home someplace else. In the age of informed consent, our purchase of a home in this quiet and relaxing community, was not preceded by an informed consent or a warning that we would have no control over our neighborhood: we would lose resale value, it would be noisy and the traffic would be congested. Many residents are probably uninformed and too busy to send many letters and to be present in meetings. We would highly appreciate that our representatives, Mayor, Knox County planning commission would do the right thing: to maintain the rights of citizens in this neighborhood independent of how many residents manifest themselves by letters or presence in meetings. Your support in what is right is greatly appreciated: do not allow the construction of high rises in this single family home neighborhood.

I am firmly against this development. Given the beautiful state of the area there is no reason that this development should be supported or moved forward. There is a notable lack of opportunity to vote from the community.

It makes no sense to build these condos, if they actually cared about this community you’d think they’d finally put in some sidewalks or a park instead

This proposal is totally out of place in Gettysvue, and an egregious attempt for a few people to profit at the expense of their neighbors. The traffic burden on neighborhood roads, including Westland and Ebenezer, will soar to dangerous and unacceptable levels. These roads are challenging enough now. The proposed buildings are totally out of character with our single-family home neighborhood, and will ruin the visual beauty of the areas surrounding them. A prolonged period of construction will destroy the quiet enjoyment of our neighborhood. And what about the threat of these condos becoming VRBO units or rental homes, which would threaten the safety of our residents. We must stop this insane proposal! Please donate now, as I have.

This proposed development is totally out of place in our neighborhood. These condo buildings will loom over neighboring homes and destroy the wonderful ambiance of our single-family home neighborhood. It will cause greatly increased traffic on neighborhood roads that are already too crowded and dangerous. Plus there is bound to be a negative impact to our property values. Please help stop this!

Area is already overcrowded with traffic. With several high density apartments built recently, traffic on Ebenezer and Westland is already dangerous. We do not need additional high density housing, especially in a development that was designed for single family homes.

After his defeat the last time, Watkins said " I don't want to make enemies". I wonder what changed? Perhaps $$$!

I'm concerned about the added traffic these units will generate, starting with the construction and extending to having 90+ new residents in a small neighborhood. I'm also concerned about the effect this will have on the quality of our golf course and play.

This proposed development would not fit the residential development and create a dramatic increase of traffic particularly in a concentrated area.

This will ruin the charm of the neighborhood and the club that we have enjoyed for over 15 years. And what a nice sunset view at dinner from the balcony. Would hate for it to be a view of some buildings

This neighborhood and our infrastructure was not built to handle an additional 90 units!
