There should be no developments on this land. It would destroy the area and its surroundings. There is already a railway bridge along this stretch of river, surely it would be a better spend of council money to tag on a pedestrian/cycle way onto this existing and long established structure?

The cycle bridge should be attached to the railway bridge, thus preserving the view of the meadow.

Genuine historic wetland meadows are so rare. They cannot be re-created. Re-landscaping, screening is a nonsense approach to conservation.

I am an exGirton student and spent many a happy hour along these unspoilt banks. Surely the money could be much better spent elsewhere rather than on a pointless piece of destruction.

I fail to see why this destructive and expensive project is at all necessary, given the nearby location of the green dragon bridge. have people got so lazy they would rather irreversibly destroy a piece of natural countryside to save a couple of minutes from their journey?

Ditton Meadows is a very special green space and will be derogated for all time by the presence of a bridge across the Cam. Comments about enhancing the landscape along the cycle path are ludicrous, the area is perfect in it's wild, rural state.

Fen Ditton meadows should not be seen as a means to solve the traffic problems in and around the city. Both sides of this debate want a solution, but if this proposal is about providing cyclists a shorter route to wherever, it is rather a selfish and lazy argument. This proposal does nothing to help mothers with children or the elderly, who may well still use the the same transport method even if the bridge is built. I have heard many comments that Abbey citizens will want access to the new station. If that is so, why hasn’t anyone considered the feasibility of a small train station on the city side of Newmarket Road bridge? It would also be in easy reach of the Wing development and keep away team football fans out of the city. Cambridgeshire’s councils just seem to snatch at available money, regardless of the damage it does to its green spaces. Time to take a step back and do a detailed strategic study of its transport problems

it would ruin the ecology and wildlife of the area there is a bridge a little further along the river,so no need for another one,also there are more important things to spend our taxpayers money on.

I strongly oppose the proposed location of the new cycle bridge. As a daily user of the meadows as a dog walker and cyclist I feel the development will significantly impact the unique character, tranquility, vistas and natural wildlife habitat of Ditton meadows for ever, for the sake of removing a few minutes from the journey to the new station.

Green Belt land seems not to exist these days when the planners want to do something. The Meadows are a beautiful "gap" between the city and Fen Ditton and putting in a bridge will completely spoil what is an asset at the moment. No-one doubts that it will be used, but for the sake of a few minutes, why spoil our beautiful green space.
