I support that this meadow be kept as it is for many years to come yet another bridge is not required

Please leave the meadows alone!!!

Ditton Meadows are used by many people, some drive/bike from the city center and other areas in Cambridge here just to have a walk in a tranquil setting or walk dogs or just to sit next to the river and cool down on a hot day. There is no need for the bridge in this area, there is a Green Dragon bridge just a short distance away.

This is a green area used by many rare birds and other animals, it would be devastating to see them loose their habitat

would they put a monstroty in historic cambridge no leave our meadows alone

Whats wrong with them using stourbridge common bridge

I have recently moved out of Cambridge but know this area very well and see both sides of the argument and hope it can be resolved in the best way for wildlife and the people who will benefit from the cycle bridge.

There must be a better site for a new bridge

"Any development fundamentally changes the character of the space - it is no longer reposeful, but is a throughway for commuters and traffic." I think a few bikes and pedestrians are going to have a negligible effect on the tranquility of the commons when compared to the trains. "At a practical level, no one has thought out how this bridge connects from the Haling Way (towpath) on to the rail station (let alone the Science Park) even though it is supposed to be about 'connectivity' to the new station." I believe the plan is to use the existing access from Fen Rd to the Haling Way, and there will be access to the station from Moss Bank.

As a cyclist who frequently uses the bridge at The Green Dragon, I understand the need for good quality bridges cycle bridges across the Cam. However, as a local resident and an ecologist I feel that Ditton Meadows, a City Wildlife Site, has alreads had too much development with the laying of the cycleway a few years ago. The bridge will also create very unpleasant conditions for cyclists using it to visit the new railway station, with first the level crossing followed immediately by a right turn into Moss Bank on a rather busy road. Traffic continues to speed along Fen Road, & I can see accidents arising from vehicles coming west over the blind level crossing suddenly coming upon cyclists in the middle of the road waiting to turn right. This could also cause traffic blocked by such a cyclist to back up on the crossing & get stuck there when the barriers come down. Why not instead widen the cycle underpass beneath the railway so that 2 bikes can pass each other safely, & also remove the blind bends, and widen the bridge at the Green Dragon to increase capacity & reduce conflict with pedestrians there.

The Green Dragon cycle bridge is 3 mins away by bike from this proposed crossing. I don't want £4 million spent on reducing a journey by 6 minutes, while wrecking this beautiful meadow!

Save the fields!!

Please preserve this beautiful place in cambridge. Nothing should be builte on the Fen Ditton side of the railway track

enough money has been spent on cyclists already. Think about our cultural and ecological heritage for once!

This bridge is not needed. There has been no meaningful consultation. The document distributed last year gave no real information about the proposed river crossing. The hand drawn pictures were pointless. There was no map to indicate various possible crossing points. It only appeared to offer a choice of which bridge you would like, not whether you would like one or not.

We need to keep the very few remaining historical areas that are not wealthy Cambridge Colleges for our great grandchildren! Greed and a mistaken ideas that developing these important riverside conservation areas is criminal! Why doesn't good sense prevail!

The current proposed location is totally wrong. The new bridge should be co-located with the railway bridge (to west preferably otherwise immediately to the east) and a proper integrated landscape plan developed to ensure the special qualities and views of Fen Ditton Meadows and Stourbridge Common are protected and the recreational value of the commons/ green spaces are not eroded. Highways Authority should implement high quality design and properly costed schemes. The current shoddy proposals are not worthy of Cambridge - sucessful because it is mostly a beautiful and quality city people want to be in - do not start reducing standards now! Suggest Friends of Ditton Meadows and Stourbridge Common (together with neighbouring landowners and local groups) team up to develop clear master plans and helping to find a balanced view and approach trying to integrate the various pressures and needs on these so important green spaces along the magic green corridor of the River Cam.

It will be a complete disater for the meadows, a start of encroachment when we need to protect all green spaces especially these emadows

These meadows are one of the last remaining wild places within walking distance of the Cambridge city centre. It is critical to try to preserve this beloved, protected spot. A cycle bridge to the west of the railway bridge is the way forward.

It would be such a shame to destroy this lovely meadow that brings so much to this village.
