What is the purpose of logging such a sensitive area? This is a rare, wooded space close to a densely populated urban area. This seems remarkably short-sighted. Once the canopy is gone, the ground growth will take off. Even if they do attempt to protect the area from invasives, that will likely be done with chemicals. This sounds like a horrible idea.

Such a beautiful area. We are counting on the DNR to log responsibly and avoid areas of high ecological value and to minimize the spread of invasive species.

Please please please do this in the most respectful way possible! This area is used by the public everyday and means so much to those of us who love to hike, bike, hunt, take photos, and look for native species. This area is much loved and deserves top notch environmental management when it get logged. Better yet, don't log it.

Would absolutely love to see the state game area to remain the wooded forest it is without any non native plants coming in!

Please leave the Cannonsburg State Game Area as it is. Past local logging projects have caused far more harm than the revenue they created. The area is for the cyclists, the runners and the hunters. Let them decide—not politicians or people working for the state.

Need to preserve this area and make it a rec area. The population has expanded out to where this area would be better suited as a rec area vs a hunting area.

No logging. We are losing too much bio diversity already.

As a long time visitor to the Cannonsburg State Game Area, I hope the State of Michigan values and protects the continued use of public lands for recreation. I would fully expect any work on public lands to be carried out in a sustainable manner, with as minimal impact as possible to areas both inside and especially outside of the immediate scope of work, and a plan and program in place to return the habitat as quickly as possible to its natural, previous state.

A responsible land management is expected. A better communication plan should have been in place. What is the plan for this area in the next 5 years? A lot of “neighborhood construction” is going around but nothing clear to preserve areas like this is clearly visible.
