Cutting dead and diseased tree is needed to ensure the health of our forests. Clear cutting is unacceptable. What will be replanted? What is planned for the waste land left behind and the ecosystem that is harmed by this practice?

It worries me to see what will happen to this beautiful area of land. Just the Dursum parking area alone has the invasive plants that have started the spread of more invasive plants through this area of land. The machinery that was parked there and made its way through the trail has left Japanese knotweed, garlic mustard, Japanese hedge parsley, and dame’s rocket to name a few that have crowded out all of our native plant species. Native plants that were there just one year ago have already disappeared. Sad.

It's one of the most beautiful places in Kent County as is and I feel it should remain mostly untouched.

I certainly have no problem with harvesting of red pine, which were planted as a plantation, and they're not native to this part of the state. However DNR common practices of logging the land and leaving it without follow care after creating a huge disturbance, along with opening to sunlight, both of which typically leads to an invasion of undesirable plants and invasive shrubs, as seen in other State game Area logging projects. I totally agree with the logging operation being conducted in a manner that avoids ecologically sensitive areas, including populations of native plants and sensitive species that currently exist there.

Logging this plot of land is an unneeded and greedy use of our constantly dwindling public lands. Sad.

While I understand the purpose of logging, please clean up your mess when you are done. As a mountain biker we get blasted if we leave any sign behind.....so do your jobs and keep our nature clean too.

All logging I have seen has left the area trashed. All debris, including tree tops, branches, and limbs were left laying where they landed, making the area unpassable. In this meeting, please explain how logging this area will be of benefit to Michigan taxpayers.

Our land is our livelihood and our outdoor activities and space are what have made Grand Rapids a draw and are helping grow the economy. For those concerned about the environment, there’s a point. For those concerned about economics, there’s a point.

Iunderstand you have to manage the land. But, please give due diligence to this public land. Protect the native plants that currently grow there and don't leave a vacuum for more invasive plants to make their way into the state game area. Thank you.
