This is absurd that during a medical crisis the City of Glenwood would shut down a portion of their transportation system. It is clear that they do not understand that aviation plays an essential role in saving lives by providing expedient movement of people and supplies.

As a flight instructor I cannot emphasize enough the need to give your local pilots the opportunity to stay current. This not only a legal requirement it is imperative for save operations, This is even more important for safe operations in the mountains. Sue Mosher CFi, CFII, MEI, ATP Montrose CO

It has been decades that the city council tried to restrict and close the airport. They jumped on this Covid-19 situation as an excuse. Beware, the city council has no intention to re-open the airport. We, as responsible pilots and citizens, cannot let this happen!

Using Covid-19 as an excuse to close the Glenwood Springs airport falls in line with how Mayor Daily used National Security to close Miggs Field. Totally baseless.

Never should have been closed in the first place. John Colwell

Aviation is the ultimate social distancing. Did Glenwood also close Highway 82 or Interstate 70? For some people, this is no different.

My hope is that this airport stays open.

Another nonsensical ploy to justify closing a vital airport.

Re-Open Glenwood Springs Airport. Airports are ALL part of the National Airspace Service (NAS), ready to accommodate aircraft traffic as needed. Pilots are responsible for working with experts to avoid spreading this virus. Closing the airport in favor of ANY study that would lead to non-aviation related development nearby or on airport land would be a very large mistake. Airports are unique, hard or impossible to replace, and contribute greatly to the economic benefit of the communities in which they are located. Work together to support your local airport as the valuable resource that it is.

Closing an airport to repurpose land is a greedy and short sighted motive. This airport has a longevity that should not be ignored.

Unless part of the state mandate to close to the public, this airport should never have been closed.

I vote YES to reopen. All pilots are trained to refuel, make them safe and tie down their airplanes.

Glenwood springs airport is an important stopping point for aircraft flying across Colorado This airport is need for safety of general aviation aircraft flying across mountains. Also the convenience of having an airport in the center of the state for access to the surrounding area

Responsible air travel by citizens of GWS is necessary to the economy and poses little risk when done responsibly! Residents should be allowed (and be held accountable) to act responsibly.
