Open the airport, there is no data supporting the reasoning behind this closure. Waiting , "until it's safe, means never."

Pilots and aircraft owners based at Glenwood Springs need to be able to utilize their aircraft to maintain proficiency and currency, or for necessary transportation - all possible while still being mindful of good social distancing practices. Please re-open this tremendous community asset.

Closing the airport under the cloak of covid 19 is poor management

The closure of the Glenwood Springs airport has been overly cautious as it is a general aviation airport that is used primarily by local individuals and their families. It is essential to maintain this airport and reopen it as quickly as possible to provide a safe and socially-distanced option for necessary general aviation. I am fearful that this was nothing more than a stunt to get the airport closed and we may never see it open again as the current Glenwood Springs government has it out to convert the entire property to residences, as opposed to all of that open land that had been approved for development on the other side of the river years ago.

This airport is critical for aviation safety in the mountains near Aspen, Colorado. Wise people built this airport years ago with the vision of keeping the area open to air commerce.

I believe that Glenwood Springs Municipal should be reopened immediately. It represents part of a critical transportation infrastructure and its closure poses a significant safety concern not just to pilots who might lose proficiency from not flying but also pilots who are transiting the mountains and require a emergency landing option. GWS is the only airport to my knowledge that is closed over COVID concerns and its closure is a misguided attempt to control the spread of disease.

I’ve used Glenwood as a recreational airport for the last 30 years and feel it is essential to the Colorado airports system as well as the national airspace system for general aviation aircraft. It would be a tragedy to lose this valuable asset in the mountains of Colorado. As a new pilot I was unable to get into Aspen one day due to weather in Glenwood was a great back up airport to allow me to wait the weather out.

Please re-open this airport. Private aviation is one way we will still be able to travel AND maintain appropriate social distance, as we can move about without coming in contact with others.
Thank you!

Glenwood Speings/Garfield county certainly does not need more condominiums at the expense of an iconic small town airport.

Please reopen Glenwood Springs Municipal Airport.
Even in times that we are going through all airports need to be open. Pilots are respectful in these time periods. Pilots usually fly solo, so the chances of the virus being spread is little and pilots need to stay actively flying. They need to stay sharp and proficient.
Since we are in the first stage of reopening places throughout the state and country, please open your airport.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Bronson MacDonald
