VT has historically handled the post-assault process well, but it's time to really start addressing the issue BEFORE it happens

The way educational institutions handle sexual assault needs to change NOW. We can't have more of these tragic cases brushed under the rug because colleges want to keep up a facade of safety and care. We need real change. Consent is mandatory, and victim blaming is unacceptable!

The number of sexual assaults reported in the past week alone is absolutely harrowing

I will say that Virginia tech was extremely helpful and respectful when dealing with my sexual assault. Without the rules they have in my place my rapist might still be at school here. I know they take it seriously when it happens, but it needs to be stopped before it happens. There's absolutely NO REASON that anyone should have to go through this. Thank you for feeling as passionately as I do.

The numbers are too high on this campus and across the country. We have to do something to keep it from happening.

We are not doing enough to prevent sexual assault. Three assaults were reported in 24 hours, but that doesn't account for the amount of people that don't report, which is the majority.

The reality of this phenomenon needs to be known and kept in the heads of all who encounter possible situations for sexual assault/violence

An investigation is needed given the context (Women's Month, Alt-right groups actively recruiting on campus, etc.) and the astounding concentration in time that marks those recent crimes.
Agreed. In person is much more effective!
Something needs to be done!
You've got my support!
Let's keep each other safe!
I believe things will get better!
