Frenchtown Preservation - No (More) Student Housing

Student housing is important. But it should not come at the cost of the social fabric of our full time residents. Let's keep the character of Tallahassee organic and unique, not a cheap remake of south Florida.

Tallahassee has the highest amount of vacant housing because of cheaply made, expensive to rent student housing. Focus on the greater community first.

We need to invest in our local gem of historic Frenchtown - not in the students who stay in Tallahassee and leave after 4 years. These student housing projects will ultimately hurt a community in need for revitalization. The Frenchtown community has worked so hard to preserve and revitalize the community... don't let this effort go to waste. The community can't compete with big developers... please don't favor a temporary profit over a community that will maintain its value for longer than 100 generations of students come and go.

Please consider the historic value of Frenchtown and the real need for low to middle income housing for current residents. Do not lat Frenchtown be destroyed by changing its character.

Keep the unique culture of Frenchtown, not student housing invasion.

I am a resident in Greater French Town and would hate to see the unique culture of our neighborhood ruined by FSU sprawl.

There is more to this town then FSU.

We don't need more student housing in Tallahassee, especially in the historic district. Don't y'all think that there's already plenty in the 5 complexs built last year in Collegetown???

I've lived in Tallahassee almost all of my life and support revitalization efforts in Frenchtown that benefit the community there. Please oppose this student housing complex.

This project's development without the proper consultation of community organizers and citizens is unethical and shameful. This city is better than this.

Not consistent with existing redevelopment plans for Frenchtown, and would clearly alter the character of a historic and often neglected community for the worse.

Future developments should be consistent with the current make up of the neighborhood. Student housing is just not appropriate in French Town.

There are plenty of places in town this complex can be built that does not destroy the heart of our city's oldest neighborhood. This is not the kind of revitilization Frenchtown needs it deserves.

These high rise student housing buildings litter our town enough already and now they want to continue this trend by encroaching into Frenchtown? This is one of the last vestiges of our city's history. We should preserve this beautiful neighborhood and the wonderful people who call Frenchtown a home.

I support this cause! No student housing in this strong neighborhood!

The cultural and historical significance of Frenchtown, the place and especially its people, should not be overshadowed or gentrified for the sake of "student housing." There is no shortage of housing for students, whether on or off campus. But a move like this ensures a shortage of housing for those who call Frenchtown home. Not just for themselves and their families, but for their businesses and livelihoods.

The sale of this city property was not done in accordance with the alleged goal of maintaining coherence with the Redevelopment Plan for Frenchtown. Community members were not informed. This is not how the city should do it's business with the PEOPLE. I urge the county commissioners to vote NO until we can find a better process that truly includes the PEOPLE!

As an FSU student, I do not want to see my University further contribute to the gentrification of Tallahassee.

NO TO STUDENT HOUSING!!
