Frenchtown Preservation - No (More) Student Housing

Instead of building more student housing give kids who grow up in Frenchtown and Griffith Heights the resources they need to go to FSU. Help FAMU get the resources it needs as well. Don't be like the legislature and bend over backwards for developers.

Please! I am seeing a pattern of attempting to force high-impact development on neighborhoods that abut the downtown area. In some cases, these attempts lack transparency, fail to meaningfully involve the neighborhood, and would have devastating effects on the character of the neighborhood. I am particularly concerned that one of our historically African-American neighborhoods may become a huge expansion of the 24-hour partying culture that has already affected other residential neighborhoods. I am greatly concerned that elected officials who I voted for, who I like personally, seem to be betraying their trust to the voters. This voter has already felt the shift since the 2016 election where voter apathy allowed a nihilistic administration to start tearing down our institutions. I don't want to see our community give into opacity, deal-making, and monetizing of our community assets.

Let Frenchtown be! Students are great, and they provide much money to the town, but cherish your residents.

While meeting student needs for housing is important, as transients, student populations do not typically offer the kind of long-term commitment to revitalizing a neighborhood that Frenchtown deserves. Please do not gut this neighborhood by radically changing its character through the insertion of a student housing complex.

Keep the character of Frenchtown and respect the wishes of existing residents!

I do not support the addition of student housing to the historic district of Frenchtown.

As an alum of FSU, very disappointed the city commission is proposing this.

Please do not put student housing in French town. Please house students elsewhere. The historic and race history of French town needs to be protected.

Frenchtown is not just a blank slate to build on.

Preserve our historical neighborhoods. They cannot be replaced.

Let's leave the neighborhoods alone! There are plenty of spaces around Gaines Street!

You people have demoshed French Town, it will never be the same. Y'all took away its rich history .

Tallahassee needs proactive public participation on issues impacting neighborhoods

Leave our neighborhood along, to much rich history in that land. Build somewhere else, take some of those expensive condos you have downtown and house students there and leave the urban area be.

I do not support the addition of student housing to the historic district of Frenchtown. I would like to see this area preserved and cherished for the asset to the Tallahassee community that it is.

There are enough student housing complexes in Tallahassee without adding one in historic Frenchtown.
