Adding Student housing to Frenchtown will not revitalize it. Perhaps if the developer were creating affordable, decent housing people would move closer to downtown. More student presence in that area will not help.

The proposed plan represents ongoing gentrification of this historically Black neighborhood. It ought to be opposed for that reason alone.

This development is the complete opposite of what this neighborhood needs, and would destroy the sense of place that so many people have worked so hard to begin to cultivate in this neighborhood.

With regard to development in the Frenchtown area, please prioritize affordable dwellings for working families. At this point, any increase in student-focused housing cannot help but detract from the family residential environment.

FSU and the city and developers have have spent a fortune developing the south side of campus, which has become a place for students to live, eat, play. And they refused to make Tennessee street safer to cross just a few years back. Leave Frenchtown alone, except of course paying for infrastructure enhancements that community members desire! Instead of breaking more promises to the community, give Frenchtown community members some agency here. Bring in the Frenchtown Neighborhood Improvement Association, the Greater Frienchtown Revitalization Council, etc. to the table to have a discussion about how to move forward. FSU and the city has done enough harm paving the way for the removing of affordable housing on the south side of campus. Don't let Frenchtown become the next Smoky Hollow! Support Black communities.

It is time for the City to STOP building over Frenchtown. This is an historic site and the City has broken promise after promise to the Black community about preserving this area AS a community.
