If you are going to suspend him then you have to suspend other teachers that act inappropriately in the class room and you have to have bigger punishments for students that swear.

I had him for speech when I was a senior at Mayo. He made the students feel less embarassed about giving speeches. This is ridiculous that this is happening to him.

Who hasnt heard a teacher swear? This punishment is too severe and clearly this teacher was an inspiration to many students. That should be what counts most. One who can inspire high schoolers is an admirable person in my book.

When I took speech at Mayo, Thorson had us choose to either do a choreographed dance to a song, or do a poem. Feeling like I didn't want to do either, I met him halfway and decided to perform cold hearted by Blu and exile a capella. I told him this is poetry just as much as any piece by Langston Hughes, so why not? He was cool with it. Thorson was a great teacher and tried to connect to his students. In a school where you have to watch a birth video, I doubt an f-bomb (which what high school kid doesn't say anyway?) is more traumatizing than that.
