Instead of hiring rangers they should hire lifeguards and charge a small fee to pay for the cost of lifegaurds.

This place is a great place for good swim and a great hike. If anything you should be making this place a park for families and friends to enjoy like they have been. I beg you to not take my greatest memories of my life.

According to the Constitution the government is not supposed to own any land look it up and see for yourself

Without being able to swim in the gorges, these natural gifts that are meant to be enjoyed bodily are reduced to pretty pictures on our iPhones. We all understand that the intention is to reduce harm, but that is not possible in a world of moving parts, vehicles, high places, gravity, and pure luck. You can't make everything that might harm a person illegal. You have to allow people to make choices for themselves. As soon as you strip a person of the right to make a wise choice for him or herself, you essentially make it impossible for learning to happen and for wise choices to be made at all. Instead of punishing everyone for the unwise choices of a notable demographic, why not provide educational opportunities that allow us to be rational and courteous? Provide us with the opportunity to clean up after ourselves. Provide us with a sign that makes us aware that our lives are in our own hands. Let us have responsibility for ourselves, our actions, and our affect on the world around us. Personal responsibility is the right we earn when we turn 18 in this country.

Let's try to figure out a way to educate people on gorge safety and eliminating waste, but as dignified and free adults we should be able to enjoy making our own decisions, including swimming in the gorges at our own risk. Please don't take the best part of Ithaca summer away from us!

A simple sign warning swimmers of the potential hazards and releasing the City from any resulting damages/injuries would be more than enough. These swimming holes are some of the best parts of Ithaca; don't take them away.

I know that it may be a liability for the city, but maybe if they post something saying that swimmers are taking their safety into their own hands when entering the water, and that the city is not liable to damages, it wont be a big deal. maybe have patrols once in a while just to make sure people aren't littering, or being a danger to others.

I feel that 2nd damn could be a swimable area if we could post a lifeguard, I know that may bring leagel responsibilitys to the city but it's no different than buttermilk or any of the falls, that is my opinion and I will leave it as that. Thank you

Maybe install some form of safety device to prevent people from falling over the dam! Also they could have someone certify water depths, and check for/ clear hazardous underwater debris.

I love Ithaca, one of the things I love the most is observing the beauty of first/second dam.
Let us swim!!!!!!
