You're making an unfair assumption and hypothetical statement. I can counter by saying, "I assume if a player has a concussion and Coach Walsh is aware of it, the boy will sit and get proper medical treatment until cleared." What we do know is facts, Coach W. set an example that should be followed by others. I applaud you Coach Walsh and the Serra administration for doing what's right. Well done.

As a former high school football player, a third place victory would have felt meaningless. As an adult, aware of the injuries caused by the sport, I'm glad the boys didn't play for 3rd. Punishing the next wave of student athletes is a poor excuse for a lack of effort by the CCS board.

People are saying let the kids play, but their coach is the one that decided to not have them play for "safety reasons". If he is so concerned with safety I wonder how many times he has put a player who has had a concussion or other major injury back on the field. The last medical reports I saw is once you have one concussion you are seven times more likely to have more concussions. So is he risking his players by playing them again, even if they sit out one or two games or waits until they are "cleared" by a doctor. So my question is where he draws the line on the safety of his players. I would love to see the coach from Serra answer this.

I'm a very proud Serra Padre Mom and have two sons, c/o 2013 and 2016. Went through the experience of CCS post season and took great pride in wearing the blue and gold representing the Serra Padre Community against the top competition of the CCS. I'm in full support of Coach Walsh in his decision.

Do the right thing - support our Padre boys. Their safety is and should ALWAYS BE PRIORITY! We fully support Coach Walsh and the Serra Administration's decision, hope you will sign in support too!
