Free Nobel Prize Winner Liu Xiaobo from prison !
Liu Xiaobo is a Chinese intellectual, writer, human rights activist and a political prisoner in China. On 8th December 2008, Liu was detained in response to his participation with Charter 08. He was formally arrested on 23rd June 2009, on suspicion of "inciting subversion of state power." He was tried on the same charges on 23rd December 2009, and sentenced to 11 years imprisonment and two years deprivation of political rights on 25th December 2009. During his 4th prison term, he won the Nobel Peace Prize on 8th October 2010, for "his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China."
Article 19 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression. This right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
According to Article 35 of the Chinese Constitution, the freedoms of expression and publishing are protected as well: "The citizens of China enjoy freedom of expression, publishing, assembly, association, manifestation and demonstration."
This petition is organized by “Free China from CCP Alliance Europe” and will be submitted to the European Parliament in Brussels (Belgium) with the Chinese New Year 2011 (3rd February 2011). We ask the European Parliament to urge the Chinese government to release Liu Xiaobo from prison immediately.

I have been reading through all the stories people are posting and it is honestly overwhelming to see so many of you caring about what is happening to Liu Xiaobo even though it feels like a mountain we are trying to climb. I am working on getting some contacts in the media to actually look at these names because the silence from the authorities is just a wall that we have to keep pounding on until they answer.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam when I first hit publish on my laptop late at night. It is honestly overwhelming to see so many people caring about this cause because sometimes it feels like shouting into a void. I am just going to keep pushing forward and I really hope you stay with me on this.

it is crazy that in this day and age people still get locked up for writing. keep fighting for his release
This is just wrong. A Nobel prize winner should not be sitting in a cell for expressing ideas. Let him go.
human rights are universal. release him immediately.
How can you imprison a man for wanting freedom? its heart breaking to see this happen.
