I assume pedestrians will have to use the bridge to cross the rail line as well? If so, there needs to be access (stairs) to the bridge for pedestrians near the rail line so that one doesn't have to walk too far out of the way to cross the bridge. Pedestrian/cycle only level crossing might be an alternative in addition to bridge for auto traffic.

Logically the practical solution to resolving the southern city congestion which has demonstrably inhibited developers from interest in this area.

At last! The right answer so long overdue.

Impossible to eliminate both level crossings as these are used by around 5,000 pedestrians, cyclists, mobility scooters each day. The proposed bridge would have to meet current Network Rail standards and these allow for future overhead electrification. and would need about another 1 metre of clearance than, say, the current bridge on the A27 at Portfield. Basin Road is too short to provide an acceptable gradient in the rise and fall of a bridge. Any bridge would also need to include a wall each side to shield residential properties from noise and pollution and would be an eyesore.

There can be no satisfactory Southern Gateway until the two level crossings are eliminated. This scheme will do more for Chichester than anything else I can imagine. Spend the money on this rather than vanity project.

This would make a huge improvement to the traffic flow of Chichester!

An excellent scheme and worth supporting. The removal of those notorious gates will prevent the gridlock that can prevail all around that area.

I support the Freeflow because it would remove the inherent danger of level crossings, reduce pollution and ease the traffic congestion.

Chichester desperately needs traffic improvement schemes - Freeflow is a solution to the horrendous delays caused by the level crossing closures. Get Chichester moving again!

I fully support Freeflow. It is a very sensible and feasible solution to a problem that has blighted Chichester for many many years.
