Freedom of Hairstyle Expression

As a Black African parent, I fully support this petition. Our children's hair is not just hair — it is heritage, it is history, it is identity. For too long, our sons and daughters have been made to feel that their natural features are something to hide or “fix” to fit into systems that were never built with them in mind. This must end. Our children should be free to express themselves without fear of punishment or discrimination. Their coils, curls, braids, locs, and afros are symbols of pride, culture, and resilience — not distractions. When you silence their expression, you silence their confidence. You tell them that who they are is not acceptable. We cannot accept that. Let our children wear their crowns boldly. Let them walk into classrooms and workplaces with their heads held high. We are raising the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and changemakers - and they must know that they are enough, just as they are.
