Because of malpractice and various licensing rules, most states have barred doctors and other health care providers from working across state borders, greatly hampering volunteer clinics around the nation. At a time when millions of Americans are under-insured and health care has become a national conversation, ask the federal government to pass legislation allowing health care professionals to cross state lines - if only for the sole purpose of volunteering their services for free to those in need. Such legislation would free thousands of volunteer medical professionals to go wherever their service is needed and give it.

I am just an individual who feels passionately that volunteers - the people of the United States - have tremendous capacity to solve the health care crisis. While our legislators debate, we should at least free those ready to serve their fellow Americans to do so.
