It has come to my attention over the past few years that George Whittell High School has been neglected as far as getting the funds it needs to operate correctly. Douglas County isn't dispersing it's money as well as it should be. Whittell High might be a smaller school, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be recognized as much as a bigger school would.
In a nutshell, if Whittell get's enough money for ONE MORE teacher, then they will be able to function more efficiently. Allowing them to be able to juggle the near impossible task of teaching grades 7-12 and incorporating the proper break / lunch times.
One more teacher would allow them to continue to run two separate bell schedules. Also, music only happens three periods a day, art, one(of two) PE teachers are part time, and culinary arts is part time. That's pretty much it for electives.
My hope is to get enough signatures so it can be made aware that Whittell High School matters. That they should be able to disperse the budget appropriately so this next generation can have the same awesome experience we had growing up in Lake Tahoe.
