I really can't understand why granting Joaquin tuition would be in question for even a second--why in the WORLD would the fact that he is an international student be ANY REASON to deny him the free tuition guaranteed to the children of Pepperdine faculty members?

I was a part of the Buenos Aires program in 2007-2008. I was one of the resident advisors there and worked closely with Maria. I have the utmost respect for her. Her hard work, dedication, intelligence, and warm heart heavily contribute to that successful program. In my experience she is as much a dedicated part of the faculty and staff as any other profession I interacted with.

Maria is a pivotal part of the BA program and so many people's experience/life in BA. What that program means and does for students goes far beyond the four years people spend at Pepperdine. I graduated last year and was a BA alumna and quite frankly one of the only reasons I didn't transfer out of that school in the first place is because of that program. Pepperdine, listen.

María is part of the Pepperdine family and she lives the university's mission. She has poured out her heart and countless hours for the students for years, often without much recognition. All we ask is that she and her son receive the same opportunities that other Pepperdine faculty do, because they are more than deserving.

I'm an alum of the BA program and can attest to Maria's dedicated work! She does so much for Pepperdine's programs and students, and her family deserves to be given the same treatment as the Malibu staff and faculty. Give Joaquin free tuition!
