Such a worthwhile endeavor that will combine flood-assistance with beauty as well as connecting neighborhoods. And if it is as beautiful as the High Line, it could vastly increase real estate values, though its ecological value comes first.

As climate change threatens our coastlines and neighborhoods are plagued by wastewater pollution, we sorely need projects like this in all parts of the city, including the Bronx. This would have a giant environmental benefit to this neighborhood and help mitigate all the overflow water during storms preventing future flooding as well as creating green space for various species and people!

I hope that Manhattan College may come to play a greater role in Van Cortlandt Park’s future, as this coalition was founded at the college and the community is deserving of such a project as the Daylighting of Tibbetts Brook. May it serve to bring together the communities of the Northwest Bronx and usher in ecological justice for the Tibbetts Wetlands, setting the example for restoration as we head into a world racked by environmental degradation. I was fortunate enough to have become aware of this project when I joined the Tibbetts Brook Water Quality Monitoring Project conducted out of Manhattan College’s Environmental Engineering Laboratory, under the direction of Dr. Jessica Wilson and Mr. John Abbatangelo. That work engaged me with community issues and how they affect its inhabitants. How do we solve our pressing crises? Start local. Thank you for your time.

This is a great plan to put to good use what is now just a wasted strip of land that does no good for anyone . I used to work in the bank that borders it 40 yrs. ago and it was just as useless then as it at present .

The "freeing" of Tibbett's Brook is (once again) needed....the 237th Street mall "cave ins" serve as proof.
