That courtyard was integral to my experience as a high schooler. I’m not buying the idea of leveling the hills for student safety, and students are exposed to carcinogens through the astroturf. I still think there’s a way to bring more lunch seating outside; clearly, it’s necessary. This should not be an executive decision made by the CISD administration alone. Third spaces are community areas for a reason. Let the community help make a more concrete plan…ideally with less concrete.
There’s some vague wording when it comes to the auditorium and fine arts renovations, too. If what we know about the courtyard so far indicates anything, then I’m a little nervous.

Aren’t we all about saving the trees and being a natural area. We are the woodlands! And if students use the courtyard to get to classes what will they do during construction.

Grad of 2016, the courtyard was amazing for lunch and sunshine therapy around real trees/grass. Would be a shame to have this taken away

The courtyard is easily the coolest thing about the school. Nature helps students relax and concentrate.

As a 2016 alumni, the courtyard was essential to my mental health. Before school, after school, or even just hanging out during lunch, the courtyard is the most relaxing spot on campus. The trees and hills of it are the reason for that.

Some of my fondest memories are out there in that courtyard. Whether it was for an art project or just a stroll to my next class or having a picnic with my friends during lunch. As a WHS alumni, please keep everything as is!!!!
Save the trees! We live in the Woodlands!
Alumni here, keep that green space as it is!
