Thousands of Myanmar asylum seekers are abandoned and helplessly stuck in Malaysia at this very moment. Many have been here for years, while waiting to be processed to a third country. As they do not have a visa, they are not allowed to work. This means that they have no way to legally make money. The little work they can find, such as picking up rubbish, earns them about 30-35rm a day, which is nowhere near enough to provide food, rent etc. for their whole family.

The children are not able to attend government schools in Malaysia, making it difficult for them to learn english so they can adapt to their awaited relocation to a third country.

Although the Malaysian Government has shown some effort in addressing these issues, there is a lot more that could be done to help support these refugees and assure them a better future.
