I too was forced to shut down my business and cancel my trademark because it used the word backcountry in it.

We have “Backcountry Permits” and backcountry purposed year hanging around our cabin from 50+ years ago, and in the grand scheme they are relatively new. You don’t try to trademark the term for a place that represents the majority of the planet, whether able to legally or not. That’s simple greed, and deserves to be bankrupted and banished from the industry. Now you have the opportunity to do the right thing. That will set you apart and likely not only earn back but earn more business.
