The word "backcountry" is not yours to trademark. It is a common term that belongs to everyone.

Instead of firing the lawyers you should dissolve your relationship with TAG and fire yourself. You clearly don’t understand what it means to be backcountry.

I think this law suit speaks to desperation and greed on Backcountry.com’s part. Definitely should NOT be able to copyright and sue every outfit that uses backcountry to describe gear.

'Legal' and 'right' aren't always the same thing. What you did was not right, not ethical, and not how the outdoor community treats each other.

I stand with the community. It’s the people’s “backcountry”. It does not belong to a single corporation, it is an entity of its own that we all have the right to.

Corporate greed does not support the backcountry community. In fact it goes against everything it stands for.

The word backcountry has been used for decades. No one has the right to copyright it or anything similar.

"Backcountry" is too generic a term (relating to an area or activity) for any one company to claim for its sole use - release the trademark for all to use the word (keeping the .com) and the entire backcountry community and all businesses it supports can thrive and survive.

Do not squash the small businesses for your own gain. I will not support this company until amends are made from past grievances.

The term "backcountry" has been used for decades, how can one company in 2019 claim it as their own? Not possible.

Make this right by withdrawing all petitions to cancel other trademarks and make full reparation to the small businesses you have harmed by your bullying behavior.

This litigiousness makes me sick; thought I could trust this company. Free the backcountry!

Withdraw the petitions to cancel other trademarks and stop going after small mom and pops. This is not the backcountry ethos and so far you don't deserve your name

Very disappointed that you would go after small companies that can’t defend themselves. Pathetic. I will never buy from you until reparations are made with ALL those you hurt

You have so many options around a trademark BCDC. You could have sub-licensed it like Breckenridge Brewery did to Breckenridge Distillery. You had a great opportunity to work with cottage brands looking to gain traction by bringing them into your ecosystem. Hell, you could have just sat down with them and had a beer. Instead you chose to sick a law firm that prides themselves on crushing smaller businesses over trademark and patent infringement. We call these Trademark Trolls, and you hired one. Release the name in it's entirety, spend some R&D renaming your in-house gear brand, and do the right thing. And fire whatever team forgot the internet existed and your customers control your brand, not you.
