You once set an example of how to run an outdoor-focused business, keeping loyal customers even as other retailers focused on casual outdoors. Unfortunately with these lawsuits targeted at smaller companies and individuals you became another example of corporate greed. I didn't realize how many goats I had on my gear until I peeled off 37 of them this week (cars, water bottles, bicycles, ice tools, helmets, flasks, laptops, and more) . The apology doesn't sound sincere and doesn't go far enough. You own a web site. The real backcountry is out there for anyone adventurous enough to go after it.

I have been a loyal backcountry.com customer for over a decade, but find your actions and the idea that you want to own the word “backcountry” to be reprehensible. I hope that this boycott prompts genuine soul searching within your organization, leading you acknowledge how horrible your actions and beliefs have been. A real apology and actions demonstrating a new course is needed. I truly hope that you do what is needed to regain the trust of myself and this community. What you have done so far falls far short.

Really screwed the pooch on this one, backcountry.com...
I will no longer be buying anything from backcountry.com or any other TSG partner if you don't correct this situation, which to me includes paying the legal fees of all the small businesses you tried to muscle around

I have been a regular backcountry.com customer since 2011. Will not spend another penny with you until you take these steps. Dropping one lawsuit doesn't cut it.

Unless and until this company takes the actions outlined in this petition to undo the harm it has caused to small businesses that were in no way a threat to their future growth, I will not buy anything from this company or any of the other companies in the TSG portfolio. I will also continue to share the egregious behavior of this company with everyone in my social circle and encourage them to do the same.

I used to buy my merino wool and compression socks from y'all. Not ever again. Backcountry is a generic term, like wilderness. You are foolish to try to control the use of a generic term. Drop ALL lawsuits against other companies using Backcountry in their business name.
