As someone getting into the backcountry this season, I think it's absolutely ridiculous the actions of this company, by branding the word backcountry and trying to shut small business with threats and unfair play.

What are you going to patent next? “Mountain”? “Outside”? Maybe “Colorado” and then sue the state to change its name? You are disgusting.

I’ve made regrettable decisions before and had to look hard in the mirror and reassess my mindset. As a business, someone has to be able to stand up in a meeting and say “ hold it! This is wrong and it may to backfire on us “
Maybe time to clear your office of weak ‘yes men’ , hire some folks who share the same passion of when this company started.

- All these court filings are no bueno!
- You have gone after small businesses, but skipped larger ones who can fight back.
- Some of the folks you have gone after are ones who could supply you with product to sell, as well as possible partnerships for products that show your label.
You should be paying back all those companies legal fees to make a point, a good one, for you to survive / be respected.

I support the boycott. I also support free enterprise. Patenting the word backcountry is the same as patenting the word mountain or outdoor. It's public domain and should remain so. Please make this right. I have appreciated the service of backcountry dot come up till now. Jason

Your actions are an insult to the community from which you profit. Any rhetoric that you support that community, while simultaneously going after business that serve that same community, only demonstrates your lack of sincerity.
Claiming ownership of a common word or phrase, is akin to claiming copyright over any other dictionary word.
Honestly, I have to wonder if your business model has failed, and you’re just looking for any means possible to make a dollar.
You are a bully. It’s that simple.
Forget apologies. Just stop what you’re doing and undo the damage you’ve done to other and move on.
Actions speak louder than words. Do the right thing.
