University is a place for ideas and views to be challenged, not protected. Dealing with uncomfortable subjects and views is part of a growing society.

This no platforming and silencing the "offensive" is totalitarianism by the back door. Free speech means the freedom to be offensive.

In my day at Edinburgh 1965-71 proud free speech was essential for learning and for the times that were then a-changing. It must surely be as important now? And surely students don't want to class themselves as fussy babies who must be fed only the one flavour they like?!

I am an Edinburgh Graduate and am saddened to hear this. I hope I am not too late.

All this "trigger warnungs" and "microaggressions" are only the result of spoiled, bored kids from rich, white skinned families. Just Disgusting. Greetings from Germany

Have had similar experiences in some seminars in Germany. Starting here as well, as it seems... Strange. I always thought that every student (thus the name!) was entitled to their own opinion and had the right to express it freely. Not anymore? Uni lacking uncensored discussions sounds like bogus to me.

Strange how the supposed "liberals" are happy to suppress any views which don't align with theirs. Hitler & Stalin would be proud of them!!

We must be willing to risk people believing in poor and immoral ideas in order that we might shine a light on idiocy and destroy and idea through truth and discussion.

If we stop to express what we really think, then there is nothing left from ourselves. It's just as if we stopped to exist

As an alumni of the university, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear that the institution I called home for 4 years has regressed so much. Free Speech is absolutely paramount to our society, we must be able to hear all views of a society regardless of how 'offensive' they may be.

The prohibition of cross dressing is mind boggling. What was EUSA thinking?

Anti-feminist, anti-free speech, pro penis. Keep this up and it'll backfire so badly.
